On Saturday, November 12th, the Old Tappan Golden Nights continued their 4 game win streak into the playoffs vs Sparta. From the first snap, the Golden Nights dominated on the offensive side of the ball and on the defensive side. Star quarterback Devin Fuller contributed to the high-powered offense completing 14 of 20 passes and throwing 204 yards and 3 touchdowns. Senior running back Keith Rodman added 3 touchdowns and had 92 yards on the ground for Old Tappan. Both players scored all the touchdowns that Old Tappan needed to beat Sparta 40-14. The Golden Nights were led on the defensive side of the ball by sophomore Ethan Fredricks, the transfer from Bergen Catholic. Fredricks contributed with 6 tackles and a sack. Up next for the Golden Nights will be the Indians from Pascack Valley. This will be the second time the two teams meet up this year, the Indians won the first game. This article shows the importance of Old Tappan’s momentum because it carried them into the first game and helped them beat the #2 seed Sparta. Old Tappan is flying higher then ever right now with a blowout win over Sparta and I do not know if any one is going to stop them on their quest to a state title.
