The Don Bosco defense proved they were the best in New Jersey holding their rival St. Joseph Regional to zero points and 171 yards of offense during their annual Thanksgiving game. The dominant Bosco defense held the Green Knights forced three turnovers in their 41-0 victory on a picturesque morning in front of a crowd of over 6,000. The Ironmen forced two of their three turnovers with interceptions from Yuri Wright and Jabrill Peppers in the first half. Don Bosco forced St. Joe’s into six plays for negative yardage in the first half as well. Bosco quarterback Mike Yankovich completed 14 for 21 passes and and Jabrill Peppers ran for three touchdowns. Bosco’s main advantage was their ability to control the tempo on both sides of the ball.

HOW THE GAME WAS WON: The Don Bosco defense was stellar and showed no signs of letdown throughout the game. Defensive End Al-Quadin Muhammad led the the Don Bosco defense with two sacks and six tackles. When St. Joe’s threatened to score with the ball in Bosco territory, sophomore corner Jabrill Peppers came up with an interception, which helped hold the Green Knights scoreless.

TURNING POINT: The Ironmen forced St. Joseph to punt on their first possession. On Bosco’s first drive, William and Mary bound quarterback Mike Yankovich led the Ironmen 40 yards down the field that resulted in a Jabrill Peppers one yard touchdown run on third and goal. The first series for each team would become a microcosm of the game.
