Bosco with more than just three D-1 athletes

Headed into their weekend off before Bergen Catholic, Don Bosco is coming off a 20-13 victory over Paramus Catholic on national television. The Ironmen already have 3 Division 1 commits on their squad in lineman Tyrell Smith (Virginia Tech), quarterback Frank Nutile (Temple), and tight end Tom Sweeney (Boston College). Bosco put up an impressive perfomance Friday night shutting down a talented Paramus Catholic offense in the second half. Let’s not forget that the Ironmen special teams and offensive production played a large role in the game as well.

– Junior receiver/defensive back Daivon Ellison is hearing from a plethora of schools including NC State, Nebraska, Arkansas, Maryland, UConn, Pitt, and Temple. Ellison played a major part in his squad’s victory over Paramus Catholic. He touched the ball on Bosco’s first two plays on their first drive and gained a total of 57 yards. His role on offense has now become something teams are forced to prepare for. Ellison’s two runs on Bosco’s first drive set up a 2 yard Elijah Ibutoken-Hanks touchdown run. Ellison was also matched up with Michigan commit Jabrill Peppers for most of the game on defense. Even though Ellison did allow Peppers to score a 60+ yard touchdown on him, his coverage remained solid for the remainder of the night. The speed that he gives the Ironmen on offense and technique at corner should make Ellison a Division 1 athlete. Ellison should definitely pick up some FBS offers in the offseason if he does not before his junior year is over.
-Senior running back Elijah Ibitokun-Hanks scored both touchdowns for the Bosco vs Paramus Catholic to help them move to 3-3 on the year. His balance and physicality make him stand out as a running back. Hanks currently holds offers from Colgate, Monmouth, Holy Cross, and Navy. He also has interest from Stony Brook. On Friday, Hanks was able to show off his skills as a pass rusher. He played on defense on Paramus Catholic’s last drive as a defensive end.

– Senior Bosco kicker Cameron Baels hit two 40+ yard field goals to help the Ironmen defeat PC. Bosco’s special teams has always been a strong part of their game. Baels converted on a 40 yard field goal for the Ironmen in the second quarter and added another field goal in the fourth to give the Ironmen a seven point lead. Baels has received interest from South Carolina, Coastal Carolina, UMass, and UConn. He said that he will walk on if needed.
