Westwood junior wide receiver Nolan Borgersen and Wallington quarterback Ryan Adzima have both made contributions for their small-schools teams in North Jersey so far this year.
Borgersen, who plays on both sides of the ball, returned a punt for a touchdown and helped his defense shut out Dwight Morrow improve to 6-0 on Friday night.
Borgersen has received interest from several Division 1 programs.
After camping at Rutgers this summer, Borgersen visited the New Jersey school earlier this season for a game. Borgersen said he is planning a trip to Boston College before the end of the season.
Borgersen is also in contact with Ivy League schools such as Yale, Harvard, and Princeton.
“I’m just looking for a family atmosphere, a good group of guys. Westwood is one of the best families I have ever been around and that is really important to me,” he said.
His speed and ability to go up and get the ball separates him from other wide receivers. Borgersen provides a mismatch for any small school defensive back. In just six games, he has over 1,000 receiving yards.
For now, Borgersen is focused on the rest of the season. Don’t lose sight on the Westwood wide receiver because he will certainly be a hot topic this offseason.
Wallington quarterback Ryan Adzima has drawn the attention of Division 1 schools after posting impressive numbers through the first half of his junior season. Adzima posted an impressive performance vs. Weehawken and threw for five touchdowns including one with under a minute remaining.
He visited Maryland for their game last week vs. Clemson and has plans to visit Rutgers for the second time this year on Saturday, Nov. 2.
In addition to Rutgers and Maryland, Adzima has received letters from UMass, Buffalo, Nebraska, Wisconsin and Cincinatti. The Class of 2015 quarterback also has plans to visit UMass on Nov. 16 for their matchup vs. Akron.
Adzima has thrown for 2,215 yards and 22 touchdowns through six games.
