Kelly picks up fifth offer, talks recruiting

2015 Union City safety Daiquan Kelly received news from his coach on Thursday that Syracuse was the latest school to offer him. Kelly is expected to see a rise in his recruiting due to the physicality and playmaking ability he has shown on film.

In addition, to playing safety, Kelly also plays wide receiver. However, schools are recruiting him as a safety and that is where he wants to be.

The 2015 Union City product has offers from Rutgers, Virginia, Pitt, and UMass in addition to Syracuse. Kelly told me he has yet to visit the schools that have offered him besides Rutgers.

Kelly spoke up about the recent dismissal of Rutgers coach Dave Cohen, who has been known to recruit many in-state prospects.

“It’s sad but it’s what’s best for Coach Flood and the team,” he said.

At the moment, Miami, Ohio State, Iowa, Penn state, Boston College, and Indiana are all showing interest but have not extended tenders.

Kelly said he plans on visiting Pitt, Virginia, Miami, Ohio State in the offseason.
