Maine extends offer to Cardinal Hayes DB

Cardinal Hayes senior defensive back Shawn Antoine II picked up his first offer from Maine today. Antoine received a call from Maine head coach Jack Consgrove on Saturday, Dec. 21 to inform him of the offer. The Bronx, New York prospect knew right then that he had finally achieved the scholarship to a Division 1 program that he had worked so hard for.

Antoine’s highlight tape reveals that he is a hard hitting safety that can defend the run and read the eyes of an opposing quarterback. He is shown coming up and making tackles in the open field as well. Antoine has good footwork and that will transfer over to the next level.

Antoine, a Cardinal Hayes recruit, finished his senior season with three interceptions, seven pass deflections, and 74 tackles. Antoine helped Cardinal Hayes to a 9-3 record and a CHSAA AA Championship with a 20-16 victory over Mount. St. Michael. He was also an all league selection.

Coach Cosgrove told Antoine that he has the opportunity to start as a freshman. Antoine is still waiting to hear from other schools.

Antoine also has interest from Delaware, Delaware State, and Georgia State. He currently has plans to visit Maine on January 17 and will visit Delaware State in January as well.

Note: Although NJ Football Spot is dedicated to covering New Jersey football, we will cover recruiting and events out of state. Antoine, a well respected athlete out of Bronx, New York reached out to me last year and he put together an excellent senior season.
