Updated: The Best Players in North Jersey and NY without a single Division 1 offer

Earlier this week, NJ Football Spot brought you a list of the top players in North Jersey and NY without a single Division 1 offer. It seems we have forget a few. Check these guys out.

Jake Pickard, Millburn, junior- He was selected to the all-junior Star Ledger team. Pickard was a force for every opponent on the field as a defensive end and offensive lineman. He also punted for the Millers. Pickard is quick off the ball for his size at 6’6, 220. He also does a good job at shedding blocks. There is no reason Pickard cannot be a Division 1 athlete. He is also being recruited as a tight end as well. Pickard did not play tight end during his junior year because he was needed on the offensive line. The two-way starter has a lot to look toward to heading into his senior year. He has taken unofficial visits to Rutgers, Michigan, and Penn State. Pickard was a guest of Notre Dame at the Pinstripe bowl on Dec. 28 at Yankee Stadium. He also has interest from Ohio State, Notre Dame, Miami, Florida, Tennessee, Northwestern, Stanford, Nebraska and Maryland.

James McNerney, St. Joseph Montvale, senior-  McNerney was a three year starter on the offensive line for the Green Knights. He is the only first team Non-Public, Big North selection without a single Division 1 offer. At 5’11, McNerney’s height should not sway colleges away from recruiting him. Plus, who said everyone stops growing at 18? Bottom line is that McNerney has the technique and skills to land him on a Division 1 squad. How can a college recruiting coach ignore the fact that he has been starting in the Non-Public, Big North for the past 3 years? He can bench press 325 and squat 505.There are plenty of FCS schools that could use a lineman like him. Any college that lands McNerney is getting an absolute steal.

Brandon Coleman, Archbishop Stepinac (NY), junior- The dual threat quarterback emerged as a consistent playmaker for the White Plains school during his junior year. Coleman threw for 1144 yds including 12 passing touchdowns. He also rushed for 715 yards and had eight touchdowns on the ground. His 4.2 GPA makes him a great match Ivy League and Patriot League schools. Some Ivy League programs have already noticed Coleman and are showing interest. Dartmouth, UPENN, and Brown have all paid in school visits within the last few weeks. Coleman also has interest from Syracuse and Mizzouri. Coleman’s playmaking ability makes up for his undersized, 5’10, 165 pound frame. He also runs a 4.5 in the 40 yard dash.
