Cardinal Hayes (NY) running back Timothy Poindexter has put together a nice resume through his sophomore season. The sophomore running back helped Cardinal Hayes to a 9-3 record and a CHSAA AA Championship with a 20-16 victory over Mount. St. Michael.
The 2016 Division 1 recruit rushed for 1372 yards and 17 touchdowns on 171 carries. Poindexter was named to the 2013 All-New York City second team offense in 2013 by MSG Varsity.
Poindexter’s breakout season helped him earn three Division 1 offers from Rutgers, Boston College, and UPenn. Here’s what Poindexter had to say about each program that has offered:
Rutgers: “I like the fact that there high competitive program & from what i heard a amazing university.”
UPenn: “They are a great school academically.”
Boston College: “I really like BC’S tradition. Not to mention, the running back they produced in Andre Williams.”
At 5’10, 185, Poindexter can run through the tackles and has the speed to break away from a defensive backfield. He also has good vision when it comes to making cuts.
Poindexter will be on both sides of the ball next year. He has plans to play in the defensive backfield as a safety.
