Boston College became the first program to extend an offer to 2015 Paramus Catholic outside linebacker Saleem Brightwell. The converted safety found out his offer from a Boston College coached who stopped by TNT Training to watch Brightwell work out with his team on Saturday, Jan 18.
Brightwell has shown his athleticism by way of his 118 tackles in his junior season in which he helped Paramus Catholic win its second Non-Public, Group 4 title in as many years. Brightwell also had 5.5 sacks and 4 interceptions as a junior.
He is a converted strong safety who played outside linebacker for the Paladins in 2013. Brighwell is fast and does a good job of sheding blocks as well. At 6’2, 210 he could make the shift to middle linebacker for his senior season. However, Brightwell projects as a safety in college.
Brightwell has yet to visit Boston College. The Eagles have a nice trio of 2014 commits from North Jersey in tight end Tom Sweeney (Don Bosco), and running backs Sherman Alston and Jonathan Hilliman (St. Joe’s and St. Peter’s Prep). He also has interest from Rutgers and Virginia.
