James Madison became the first school to extend an offer to Don Bosco quarterback Wesley McKoy on Sunday night. McKoy visited the Virginia school this past weekend weekend.

JMU head coach Everett Withers called McKoy on Sunday to inform him that they were extending the tender.

The 6’0, 180-pound quarterback said he liked JMU because of “the offensive philosophy and the way that they prepare their kids for not just football, but for life beyond football.”

JMU competes in the CAA, one of the top conferences is FCS (formerly known as D1-AA). The Dukes finished with a 6-6 record in 2013.

McKoy is a dual threat quarterback with good change of direction and downfield vision.

“I’m just looking for a school that will allow me to play quarterback, and that is good academically so that I can excel not just in sports, but also after.” he said.

McKoy transferred to Don Bosco in March from Dwight Morrow, where he played quarterback. He returns to Don Bosco as no new stranger. In fact, McKoy spent his sophomore year playing wide receiver for the Ironmen at Bosco.

McKoy said that James Madison offered him at quarterback, the position he wants to play in college.

So far this year, McKoy has visited James Madison and Boston College. He has another visit to Fordham planned at the end of the month and would like to see South Carolina and Penn State as well.

McKoy is receiving interest from Boston College and Fordham in addition to James Madison. He said he will visit more schools as his recruiting process progresses.
