Englewood has been a town known for producing quick, agile, and tough athletes. When it comes to producing good teams, thats another story. In recent years several Division 1 athletes such as Doug Rigg (West Virginia LB), Chucky Wingate (Bryant University DB) , and Cameron Dickerson (Northwestern WR). However, each of the three athletes previously mentioned all attended parochial school. It has been no secret that if Englewood’s athletes would stay home and represent their city, Dwight Morrow would be flooded with success in football and basketball. Since taking over the program last year, Dwight Morrow football coach Barry Harris has held onto the important tools towards putting his team back on the winning track turning a 1-8 team to a 4-4 team this past season Rhode Island commit Naiquan Thomas headlined the class of 2013 along with the Jamari Gibson, the most talented kick returner in north jersey. There is no doubt that Dwight Morrow will improve and become one of the top teams in Group 2 next season. They return athletes Julius Wingate (who holds interest from Pittsburgh, Rutgers, and Penn. State) and Juwann Winfree (who is receiving offers from SEC, Big East, and Big 10 schools).
Player Profile:
Jamari Gibson-
Gibson contributed towards a young Dwight Morrow squad as a wide receiver and kick returner. His good vision helped him return 6 touchdowns this season. Gibson also hauled in 2 receiving touchdowns and ran for 1. He currently has high interest from New Haven, West Virginia State, Sheppard, and Lincoln. He also said that going to national powerhouse Milford Academy for a Post Graduate year is a possibility. Keep an eye out for him because if he choses prep school, Divison 1-AA programs will be aiming for him.
