University Roundup Week #3

Sherman Alston, Boston College- The freshman ignited the Boston College crowd on Sept. 11 vs. USC with a 54 yard touchdown that came on a reverse with less than two minutes left in the first half. Alston’s touchdown was considered the turning point in BC’s 37-31 upset over then #9 USC. Alston, a 5’6 true freshman from St. Joseph Regional flashed his speed and vision by avoiding two tacklers for the last 25 yards of his run. He finished the game with four rushes for 55 yards. Alston’s first collegiate touchdown gave Boston College its first lead of the game, and the Eagles never looked back.

Steve Cluley, William & Mary- The redshirt sophomore quarterback was 12-27 with 166 yards and a touchdown. Cluley, who played his high school football at Wall, also had a rushing touchdown in William & Mary’s 29-14 win over Norfolk State. He was named the starter prior to William & Mary’s season opener vs. Virginia Tech.
