Wimbush flips commitment to Notre Dame

St Peter’s Prep’s Brandon Wimbush, the consensus number one senior quarterback in the state of New Jersey, changed his commitment from Penn State to Notre Dame today.

Wimbush visited Notre Dame this past weekend and witnessed their 17-14 victory over Stanford.

Despite insisting that he was “100 percent committed” more than a handful of times after his pledge to Penn State, Wimbush elected to take an official visit to South Bend, Indiana and visit Notre Dame.

Heannounced that he switched his commitment via twitter today.

Wimbush’s accuracy, awareness, and ability to run has made him one of the top quarterbacks in the class of 2015. Rivals.com has him ranked as the number two overall quarterback in the nation.

Many believe that Notre Dame’s superior level of academics helped convince Wimbush to change his commitment and become a Fighting Irish commit.

Wimbush’s switch from Penn State to Notre Dame helps demonstrate that verbal commitments have become almost a minimal factor surrounding top recruits around the nation. Several players from the Garden State have flipped schools since giving a verbal commitment including Don Bosco’s Kevin Feder (currently committed to Ohio State) and Union City’s Daiquan Kelly (currently committed to Penn State).

In his first action this season vs. Bergen Catholic on ESPNU, Wimbush demonstrated why he is one of the nations best. He obliterated Bergen Catholic’s defense by completing 19-of-24 passes for 331 yards and five touchdowns through the air.

According to MaxPreps, Wimbush has thrown for 1,112 yards and 12 touchdowns this year.
